Renovating an existing pool calls for a meticulous approach and technical skills to turn an aging space into a modern, attractive leisure area. Here is a concrete pool renovation project we completed in Cannes:
1. Assessing the Current Condition
The first step is a detailed assessment of the pool’s current condition. In our client’s case, the tiles were starting to crumble, which increased the risk of injury while swimming. There were also leaks around the openings (skimmer, lights, etc.). It was therefore necessary to completely redo the pool’s waterproofing and to lay good-quality tiles that would last over time.
2. Site Preparation
Before work begins, the site is prepared. This includes draining the water from the pool, deep-cleaning the surfaces and protecting the surrounding areas to prevent any damage during the work.
3. Demolition
After the necessary preparations, we demolished the damaged surfaces. Structural repairs are carried out to ensure the pool is solid and stable before the renovation phase itself.
4. Waterproofing
For this step, choosing the right materials is essential to guarantee a long-lasting result. To redo the pool’s waterproofing, we used a specialized pool waterproofing coating, applied in two coats. Then, to treat the cracks around the openings, we applied an epoxy-based product, followed by sanding with a special product.
5. Pool Lining
To finish things off beautifully, we laid the finish chosen by the client. The tiles are laid with a special pool tile adhesive to ensure optimal adhesion. In addition, the tile joints are grouted with epoxy for maximum watertightness and greater durability, providing robust protection against water infiltration and superior resistance to temperature changes.
