Renovating an apartment is an exciting adventure, an opportunity to transform an existing space into a home that perfectly reflects your style and needs. Whether you want to modernize, expand or simply refresh, there are many solutions for every project. Here is a renovation we completed in a 65 m² apartment in Antibes.
1. Demolition
The client wanted to change the layout of the apartment by enlarging the rooms and adding a second shower room, so we had to demolish most of the partition walls, strip all the wall coverings, remove the electrical wiring and the old electrical panel, take out the furniture and empty the apartment.
2. Partition Walls and Drop Ceilings
Next, the rooms had to be rebuilt according to the agreed plan. We put up new drywall (BA13) partitions, added soundproof wall linings and installed drop ceilings to house the spotlights, the ventilation (MVHR) in the shower rooms and the ducted air conditioning.
3. Electrical System
After restructuring the apartment, we upgraded the electrical system to meet the latest standards and modernized the lighting and switching systems. After replacing the electrical panel, we ran a new network of outlets, light points and switches. We also installed a central switch for the roller shutters, as well as the power supplies for the air conditioning.
4. Plumbing System
One of the key goals of the renovation was to create a shower room in the primary bedroom. This required modifying the hot and cold water supply and the wastewater drainage. We also built concrete shower bases to achieve ultra-flat trays for walk-in showers.
5. Doors and Windows
To improve the apartment’s insulation and modernize it further, the client decided to replace the French windows and roller shutters. All the wooden French windows were replaced with identical custom-made PVC ones with double glazing to improve thermal and acoustic insulation. The roller shutters were replaced with white aluminum shutters with motors and radio remote control.
6. Personalization and Finishes
Finally, we reached the finishing stage. Wood-effect tiles were laid in a chevron pattern throughout the apartment, for a look that is both practical and warm. Tiles in different finishes and colors were laid to create a different atmosphere in each shower room. Lastly came all the elements that add a personal touch to the apartment, through decorative choices such as molding on hidden doors, and colors and finishes that match the style you want to give the apartment.
