1. Pouring the Terrace Slab
Pouring a solid slab was the first step. Before anything else, we had to remove the gravel and dig deep to prepare the surface. Next came the formwork, the welded wire mesh and finally the concrete. The new slab provides a perfect base for laying floor coverings, ensuring a solid and durable surface.
2. Enlarging the Openings and Installing Aluminum Windows and Doors
To modernize the house, the openings were enlarged to fit new PVC windows and doors. This stage requires technical precision to widen the openings without compromising the structure of the house, bringing in more natural light and a contemporary look. After enlarging the openings in the facade walls, we built reinforced concrete lintels to strengthen them before installing the new aluminum windows and doors.
3. Installing Roller Shutters
Roller shutters add to the modernization of the house while offering functional benefits such as security and thermal and acoustic insulation. Precise installation ensures they work optimally and blend seamlessly with the new openings.
4. Building a Concrete Staircase
As an extension of the terrace, we built a concrete staircase to make it easier to move around the property. Like all masonry work, this type of installation requires careful planning. New structures must integrate perfectly with the existing space while meeting safety and accessibility standards.
5. Facade Restoration
Facade restoration is crucial to refreshing the look of the house. This stage involves cleaning, repairing and filling existing cracks with mortar and reinforcing mesh tape, then applying new coatings to improve the insulation and overall appearance of the house. A facade weathered by time gets a second life.
6. Finishes and Details
Finally, finishing touches were added to perfect the look of the house: modern outdoor light fixtures and new floor coverings on the terrace, all tailored to the client’s preferences for a modernized, harmonious home.
