Buying a house is a big step that should not be taken lightly. What makes the ideal home differs for every household: some prefer to buy a house that has already been renovated, while others look for a hidden gem they can adapt to their own taste and needs.
That was the case for our clients, who bought their house in Pégomas (06580) and decided to completely change the interior layout of their new home. The goal was to bring in a modern feel and more natural light, and to make the most of the living space.
To achieve this, we suggested enlarging the openings in the exterior walls to fit larger, more modern windows and doors, such as a 3.50 m wide white aluminum sliding glass door in place of the old 1.90 m hinged French door. All the windows and doors in the house were replaced with modern ones, also in white aluminum. The old front door was also changed: it became a fixed window, which we supplied and installed. The new white aluminum front door took the place of an old hinged window.
The second step to gain space and a modern look was renovating the staircase. The old concrete staircase took up living space and blocked the light. It was demolished to make way for a modern staircase with a white-painted steel center stringer and lacquered wood treads. The railings are made of twisted steel, and the handrail is in lacquered wood matching the treads.
After the staircase was demolished, the wall needed a refresh. All the walls and the ceiling were painted in matte white.
The exposed ceiling beams were also renovated. They were sanded and lacquered to echo the color of the staircase.
Finally, we added electrical outlets and installed wall sconces on the staircase wall for extra lighting.
